When, Exactly, Apple Will Release iOS 13.2 And Why It Matters - Forbes

For the last few weeks, Apple has been releasing multiple updates to iOS 13. Mostly, the consistently rapid release of updates happened because of issues, bugs and other problems. 

So, when can we have iOS 13.2 – the big release that’s full of wonderful things that might help us forget the problems that some people have had up to now?

Here’s what we know, when it’s coming and what it will contain - and the riches inside this release are why it matters.

The clues spotted so far

There have been four betas so far, which is a lot. Forbes contributor Anthony Karcz has been chronicling what’s in the updates so far. 

Anthony reckons that means the public release is almost with us, and I’m sure he’s right. 

That makes next week very likely. But we can be more specific.

If a recent rumor is correct, the next version of Apple AirPods will go on sale by the end of the month, that’s next Thursday, October 31. 

So, it seems very likely that iOS 13.2, which seems to have accidentally revealed the existence of the new model will arrive in time for that. 

The new in-ears are perhaps going to be called AirPods Pro.

So, it’ll be a heck of a surprise if iOS 13.2 is later than next Thursday. What else do we know?

Beats Solo Pros headphones

The latest wireless noise-cancelers from Bose go on sale this Wednesday, October 30. 

Apple says that the new headphones will have features including instant set-up so that unfolding them will automatically connect the cans to an Apple Watch, iPad or Mac. But this feature will only work with the right software – such as iOS 13.2. 

Surely, this means the software must be publicly available before the headphones are on sale, doesn’t it?

It’s possible that it’s an update that can follow afterwards but given that it’s a feature that is connected to set-up, that is, the very first time you use the headphones, it would be a shame if it wasn’t immediately available.

In which case, Wednesday seems likely to be iOS 13.2 day, if not before. 

So it’s Wednesday, then?

It could be before, but won’t be later, I believe. If more leaks and rumors arrive, I’ll update this post, so please check back.

What’s in iOS 13.2?

Oh, there’s a lot. First of all, the 59 emoji promised earlier in the year will finally arrive.

Then there’s Deep Fusion, the upgrade to the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro cameras. I’ve seen this in action and for the kinds of photos it’s aimed at – low light and indoor images – it’s pretty amazing. Then there’s the new Research app which could seriously change medicine in the future as iPhone users can share their health situations with large-scale medical studies. 

That’s just the tip of the iceberg – when it launches I’ll be working through all that’s in the new release in detail. 

Not long now, it seems.
