Senate Judiciary Committee member John Kennedy, R-La., defended his questioning of the director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) about convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's death earlier Tuesday in an interview with "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

While questioning BOP chief Kathleen Hawk Sawyer, Kennedy told her "Christmas ornaments, drywall, and Jeffrey Epstein" are "three things that don't hang themselves," clarifying "that's what the American people think."

Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan on Aug. 10.

Carlson asked Kennedy if he indeed believes Epstein met a more nefarious end than suicide.

FBI INVESTIGATING POSSIBILITY OF 'CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE' IN JEFFREY EPSTEIN DEATH, PRISON CHIEF ADMITS

"I don't know," the Louisiana lawmaker responded. "The point I was trying to make with Dr. Sawyer is that the American people have very little trust of government and they may not believe investigations once they're completed, but they're certainly entitled to wonder why it's taking a while to do the investigations."

"The FBI and the inspector general... need to move this thing on."
