When iPhone and Apple Watch aren’t in sync - Houston Chronicle

Q: I have an Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max and an Apple 4 watch. When I’m wearing the watch I only get calendar notification sounds and vibrations. They also show up on the screen of the phone but there is no audio sound to alert me. Is it possible to change this so I can get a sound on the phone as well?

A: According to Apple, certain types of alerts will only either be sent to your watch or to your phone but not to both.

And where they happen can depending a number of different variable such as how you have things configured on your devices.

If my watch is alerting me correctly, I don’t see any need for my phone to amplify my notifications.

To learn more about notifications on these devices, have a look at the Apple article located at tinyurl.com/helplineapplenotifications.

The Apple support pages are a valuable resource for users of Apple devices and I turn to them frequently when sorting out how to use their technology.

Q: I cannot connect to Facebook using Firefox on my laptop. I receive an error that says Secure Connection Failed. The error code is PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR. I can reach other sites without issue. How can I fix this?

A: When Firefox, or any other browser, connects to a secure web site using HTTPS there is a negotiation that happens behind the scenes to ensure the connection is secure. If the browser is unable to negotiate the secure connection, it will show you an error message to let you know and hopefully help you correct things so you can then connect securely.

Unfortunately, these errors tend to be rather cryptic and don’t make it immediately obvious what you should to or how you might proceed.

There are two things I can think of off the top of my head that might be causing this.

The first is an incorrect time and or date set on your PC. Check the clock and make sure it is correct.

The second possibility is that you are using security or antivirus software that is acting too aggressively or malfunctioning. To see if this might be the cause, try disabling any of your security software to see if you can then reach the site. If you can, it means you need to update or maybe even reinstall your security software.

If those two things don’t sort the problem I would suggest going through the basic troubleshooting for Firefox that included clearing the cache and deleting cookies and saved passwords. You can find these steps at tinyurl.com/helplinefirefoxtroubleshooting.
